No discussion on leadership change: Siddaramaiah dismisses speculation of reshuffle in Karnataka
Jul-10-2025

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed speculation that he might be deposed.

Speaking to the media in Delhi, Siddaramaiah said that Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala had already cleared the air on this issue. ‘After he stated clearly that there's no question of a leadership change, what further speculation is needed. The media are creating these rumours. The Congress high command has a clear stance on this,’ he asserted. Siddaramaiah said that the party high command's decision would be final and binding.

On questions about a potential power-sharing arrangement, Karnataka CM said, ‘It is natural to raise such issues when the government is completing two and a half years, but it does not mean such an agreement was there. If such an agreement existed, I would not have said recently that I will be the CM for five years.’ He further said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had not invited him for any discussion on the matter, but he was due to meet Surjewala in the evening.

Siddaramaiah also dismissed the possibility of any immediate cabinet reshuffle. He said, ‘No discussion has been done on the change of leadership and cabinet reshuffle. No discussion has taken place. DK Shivakumar (the deputy chief minister) himself said there is no vacancy for the CM post.’

Responding to recent criticism of the government’s flagship guarantee schemes, the CM stated, ‘I don’t know in what context the Swamijis made those remarks. But guarantee schemes don’t make people lazy; they provide livelihood support.’
