Rupee weakens against US dollar on Friday
Sep-05-2025

The Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Friday amid persistent foreign fund outflows and global trade tensions. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 106.34 crore on Thursday. Weakness in domestic equity markets due to profit booking also dented sentiments in forex market. However, drop in international crude oil prices prevented sharper losses in the local unit. Sentiments were downbeat even after the commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said that India's exports during the current financial year (FY26) would be higher than 2024-25.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 88.27, weaker by 15 paise from its previous close of 88.12 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 88.3800 and 88.1050 respectively.
