Oil India scales up crude production at Baghewala field in Jaisalmer
Apr-06-2026

Oil India has increased the production of crude oil from the Baghewala field in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan amid geopolitical tensions and uncertainty weighed on global oil markets. The company has increased the production by over 70% to 1,202 barrels per day as compared to 705 barrels per day in last year. The company’s Rajasthan field has recorded a 34% rise in annual production of crude oil at 43,773 metric tonnes during financial year 2025-26 as compared to 32,787 metric tonnes in the previous year.

The growth in production is largely attributed to the deployment of advanced recovery techniques, including Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS), a thermal enhanced oil recovery method used for extracting high-viscosity crude. During the year, the company has completed CSS operations in 19 wells in Baghewala oil field, around 72% higher than last year, and drilled 13 new wells, up from nine earlier.

Oil India is engaged in exploration, development and production of crude oil, natural gas, LPG and condensate and providing services such as pipeline transportation and generation of renewable energy.
