No eligible women in Bengal will be deprived of Annapurna Yojana: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the West Bengal government aims to ensure that not a single eligible woman is deprived of the benefits of Annapurna Yojana and is working relentlessly toward achieving this goal. Addressing an 'Annapurna Divas' programme organised by the West Bengal government virtually, PM Modi said the scheme was aimed at providing women with greater financial security, dignity and decision-making power. He said reducing financial concerns related to essential household expenses would strengthen women’s confidence and enable them to make decisions with greater independence. PM described the scheme as an important source of support for the daily lives of women.

PM Modi said the scheme was launched soon after the government came to power in West Bengal and financial assistance was being transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts. He stressed that the government’s objective was to ensure that no eligible woman is left out of the benefits of the scheme. The Prime Minister said women had played a significant role in bringing about political change in the state after facing numerous hardships. He added that improving their Ease of Living was among the foremost priorities of the new government. He further said the government, was following the principle of ‘less talk, more work’ while accelerating the implementation of welfare programmes in the state.

Describing the Annapurna Yojana as a crucial intervention to bolster female confidence, the Prime Minister detailed how a guaranteed monthly deposit provides profound life support. He noted that receiving this fixed amount without having to ask anyone ensures financial dignity for the women. PM Modi also outlined a range of central government initiatives aimed at supporting women at different stages of their lives.

Linking regional progress to the national vision, the PM expressed absolute confidence that local women will continue to accelerate the development journey toward a Viksit Bharat. He emphasized that the nation’s overarching resolution is fundamentally strengthened by the capabilities of a developed state. The Prime Minister also extended greetings to the people of West Bengal on Vishwakarma Puja and Annapurna Diwas, and thanked the women of the state for their continued support and participation in the development process.
