Markets likely to make positive start amid FIIs inflows
Nov-03-2026

Indian equity markets are likely to make a positive start on Tuesday as crude oil prices plunged on hopes of de-escalation in the West Asia conflict. Some support may come from foreign fund inflows. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net buyers in Indian equities for the second straight session on Monday, purchasing shares worth Rs 3,114.68 crore.

Some of the key factors to be watched:

Centre's FY27 fiscal deficit to exceed target: SBI Research in its report said the central government's fiscal deficit is likely to exceed the budget estimate by Rs 1.2 lakh crore in 2026-27, largely due to structural factors such as an increase in fertiliser, LPG and petroleum subsidy expenditure and the new GDP base impact.

Govt to boost growth via capex until private investment rises: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government will continue to support growth by undertaking capital expenditure until private sector investment increases.

India targets 8-10% global container manufacturing capacity: A FICCI-Crisil paper said India could target 8-10 per cent of global container manufacturing capacity, equivalent to 4.8 lakh to 6 lakh twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually, within five years.

India's renewable sector attracts $67 billion investment, rapid growth: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said India's renewable sector has attracted $67 billion in the last two years, one of the largest investments in a sector.

India's sugar output soars to 8.45 lakh ton in Oct 2026-27: The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) said the country produced 8.45 lakh tonnes of sugar in the first month of the 2026-27 season, which began on October 8, boosting domestic supplies during the ongoing festival season.

Global front: The U.S. markets settled mostly lower on Monday weighed down by tech stocks, while Treasury yields dropped. Asian markets are trading mostly in red on Tuesday tracking overnight losses in the tech stocks on Wall Street.

Back home, rallying for the third straight day, Indian equity benchmarks ended higher by over one and half percent each, driven by a steep rally in bellwether Reliance Industries post earnings announcement and cooling crude oil prices on optimism surrounding US-Iran talks. Foreign fund inflows, positive global cues coupled with positive domestic macro indicators also added to the optimism. Finally, the BSE Sensex rose 1233.25 points or 1.66% to 75,692.78 and the CNX Nifty was up by 387.70 points or 1.68% to 23,440.80.

Some of the important factors in trade:

India’s FTAs open $85 trillion economy for exporters: Union Minister Piyush Goyal said with India's trade pacts set to provide preferential access to its goods and services in countries with a combined GDP of $85 trillion in the coming years, the industry should look beyond the huge domestic market and step out of its comfort zone to expand globally.

Gross GST collections rise 23% to Rs 2.31 lakh crore in October driven by festive demand: The government data has showed that gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections jumped 22.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2.31 lakh crore in October 2026 as festive buying boosted domestic demand.

Bank credit grows 17.94% Y-o-Y to Rs 232.54 lakh crore as of October 15: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its latest data has showed that bank credit grew 17.94 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to Rs 232.54 lakh crore as of October 15, 2026, from Rs 197.17 lakh crore recorded on October 17, 2025.
